Yeast Infections

Yeast can sometimes occur in the diaper area in the form of a rash. Yeast occurs especially if baby’s internal system (flora and fauna) are imbalanced, if baby is eating large amounts of sugary or starchy foods in solids or in Mama’s breast milk, or if baby is taking antibiotics or medications. Yeast usually appears as a reddish-pink, raised patchy rash with sharp borders. Once a person gets yeast, they seem to be more susceptible to future outbreaks.

Yeast growth can sometimes be prevented by treating the first signs of diaper rash or redness by following the steps on Treating Diaper Rash, and by using an ointment containing anti-fungal properties such as Mama Rose's Naturals Magic Touch Skin & Diaper Balm. If the rash persists after using diaper rash products and taking preventative measures, there may be an imbalance in the digestive system. You can sometimes tell if yeast, or candida, is present internally by unusual gassiness, belching, or spitting up. Until the internal problem has been solved, yeast infections (or other types of candida growth such as thrush) may persist.

Mama Rose's Naturals offers Yeast and Thrush Away Tea as well as Yeast and Thrush Away Herbal Supplement. The herbs used in each formula can eliminate yeast on contact. The tea is the most appropriate option to use on a baby, and can be used externally in the bath or on a wash cloth to cleanse the area, as well as internally by placing a few drops in baby’s mouth to eliminate candida that may be in the digestive system. Giving baby probiotics containing bifido may also help to increase positive bacteria and balance their system. Yogurt also contains live cultures that can be helpful, however be cautious that flavored yogurt contains sugar. Plain yogurt can be taken internally, or put on babies bottom externally to assist positive bacteria growth.

You may choose to try an over the counter anti-fungal cream. Mama Rose’s Naturals Herbal Shop offers several additional natural product options for fighting yeast externally.

Magoruko Probiotic Ointment

Well-in-Hand YeastPro Soap and YeastPro Spray are instant-acting therapeutic herbal complex blends specifically designed to stop discomfort within minutes of the first application. YeastPro products are intended for adults, so use particular caution if you choose to try them on an infant.

Additionally - do not use baby powders that contain cornstarch or talc. Yeast can feed off of cornstarch and inflame more rapidly. Mama Rose's Naturals Stardust Baby Powder is an herbal power that does not contain cornstarch or talc, and can be mixed with plain yogurt and applied to the diaper area to help sooth yeast infections or diaper rash.

If symptoms persist for a few days or get increasingly worse, you should have your child looked at by their physician.
